52/52: Blood on the Tracks, Vol. 1, by Shuzo Oshimi

A dark psychological thriller about a tween boy and his mother. It’s subtle, but the early part of this volume contains tremendous queasy tension. When the actual horror comes, it’s powerfully staged, illustrating reality fuzzing out, vision blooming and blurring, during true trauma. I’ve never seen it done so effectively in comics.
