52/52: Trouble Is What I Do, by Walter Mosley

This short modern noir—my first Mosley—almost reads like an extended treatment for a longer, more interesting, novel. A lot of moving the chess pieces of plot, but not enough actual chess. Some deep, rich themes—wealth, race, history—that would be much more compelling treated in a longer, subtler way.
