A sci-fi/horror romp reviving Ito’s over-the-top sense of fun and horror. Includes a riff on Akira’s destruction of Tokyo, now at the hand of an exo-planet that licks the Earth into a new orbit (really). Some themes underdeveloped—misogyny, dawning realizations about the nature of the planet—but packed with memorable images.
