52/52: My Favorite Thing Is Monsters, by Emil Ferris

I don’t generally resonate with coming-of-age stories, especially those told from the kid’s perspective, but Ferris’s multi-layered story and horror-soaked milieu is still engaging. Her mock classic horror comic covers are excellent fun. It’s almost literally unbelievable that a graphic novel this complete, full realized, complex, and refined is her first comic.
