His argument is about media generally, but it applies specifically to horror (and other outcasts) – one of the genres that is most often targeted by those seeking to “protect” us, children and adult alike, from some nebulous, “harmful” content.

Not to say that I agree with everything he’s saying (For instance: there are some reasonable cases to be made for content labelling in my view, this just isn’t quite one of them), but it’s certainly thought provoking.
